A new school year!

Hope everyone had a great summer, with lots of practice and games mixed in! A new school year is about to start, and after a few years of no school, I am now going back to school too! I am excited, the Grad Assistant for the ASU Sun Devils Womens Basketball team.

Team G.I.R.L will still go on though! We will be starting Skills Clinics again at Valley Presbyterian Church on Sundays from 3:00-4:00 pm (starting August 26). I will also be doing individual trainings as well.

Thanks and come support the Sun Devils, the opening game is November 11! See you there.

Practice makes perfect

These 2 past weekends, I have been to different club tournaments. It has been fun to watch kids compete. But one of the biggest things I have noticed is…with so many games going on, are kids really taking the time to practice their skills and basic fundamentals?

Its hard during the school year, with school and other extra curricular activities going on, but with summer coming up, it’s the perfect opportunity! Do not get me wrong, playing is great, but it’s not good to play continue to practice bad habits (shooting, ball handling, etc).

Enjoy the summer, but practice the little things, even if it seems boring, it will pay off in the long run!

Summer is around the corner! So what to do with your daughters?? Come to the Team GIRL Athletics Basktball Skills Camp

When: June 4-7, 2012 (Monday-Thursday)- 1:00-4:00 pm

Where: Valley Presbyterian Church @ Landes Center (6947 E. McDonald Dr. Paradise Valley, AZ 85253)

Cost: $75

What: Learn and practice different basketball skills from: shooting, dribbling, ball handling, defense and game situations, through drills and games. Also, learn to develop and set goals for yourself in basketball and in life!

Check out some Team GIRL Athletics camps this summer! Please click on the All Saints website, www.aseds.org then click on the tab for summer classes, and find Basketball & Beyond class times!

Basketball & Beyond classes will include basketball skills, but we will also go over and discuss other skills, what makes a complete athlete from goal setting, nutrition (no soda!), how to have a good attitude and compete!
